if I may be pedantic (because I know you, at least, will appreciate it), the snakes are venomous not poisonous. "Poisonous" means they need to be eaten for the species' toxins to have an effect (e.g. poison-arrow frogs, pufferfish, etc); "venomous" means they inject their toxins themselves (in the case of snakes, with their fangs - other kinds of venomous animals may use stings, spurs, or fin-spines).

I was going to add in that some animals can be both poisonous and venomous at the same time, but I didn't. However, I did not know there were any poisonous snakes! That is cool. I googled it to find out more, and discovered that Rhabdophis tigrinus utilise the toxins from the toads they prey upon. And remarkably they can pass these toxins on to their own offspring!
