Based on the new Tulsa 20-year Master plan, this area will eventually be incorporated into a revamped and expanded African Plains section. First phase is expanding and remodeling the current savanna habitat and moving the Rhinos from this paddock to that area. That is under construction now. Second phase, shown for completion in 2016 after the Tigers and Snow Leopards have been moved to the new Lost Kingdom section of the Zoo (slated for completion in 2015), would be a revision of the grotto holding the Lions and the area that now contains Meerkats/Painted dogs/Gunther's dik-dik. Eventually (2026) it appears from the plan that a new Lion exhibit would be sited in this area, as part of a "Carnivores!" expansion to the African section.
