Yes, they are glass windows on the wall. Immediatly behind the wall, along the visitor area, used to be a row of smaller reptile terrariums and an open crocodile pool, but those terrariums have been taken out since then.
This elephant house and pen of course don´t match current husbandry standarts. But in the year 1965 (when its construction started) it was up to date, with f.e. water basins inside and outside the house.
This exhibit is inhabited by two elderly Asian cows (44 and 45), both in bad shape, mixed with African goats (for enrichment purpouses). The zoo announced they will bring no new animals in. So either the zoo will build a brand new elephant house (and its very unlikely due to its financial status) or elephants are going to be phased out in nearly future, when one of the cows dies.
