Chesapeake Bay Exhibit

July 22nd, 2012. A touch tank is at the end of this long, narrow exhibit and there is a large number of fish that are found directly off the Virginia coastline. At first glance it seems as if the long, dark visitor tunnel goes past a series of tanks but in actuality it is one mammoth habitat with quite a variety of fish. Around the corner is another touch tank, and it is a much larger one with stingrays to pet.

I was going to ask if this was a series of tanks but you answered that in the description. Is it different lighting that causes this, or deeper and shallower parts, or something else entirely?

PS Thank you for the photos. I followed your thread with great interest and it's great to see photos from places that don't get much attention on here. Was you trip planned around these sort of places that you've never visited and don't have a big presence on Zoochat?

PPS My posts must seem a lot more frequent recently and that's because I've got a lot of uni work due this week and I'm procrastinating big time.

The section of the tank in the photo is quite wide, a the rest of the viewing windows down the long corridor go past the exact same tank but it is far narrower in that area. The exhibit is like a giant letter "L", with the bottom of the "L" being the wider section of the tank.

I definitely wanted to see as many different zoos and aquariums as possible on this trip, and 44 out of the 50 attractions were brand new to me, thus taking my lifetime total to 180. It just worked out that loads of the facilities ended up being ones that not many other ZooChatters have visited, plus I deliberately chose smaller establishments that could often be seen in 2-3 hours since I have two small children.
