do you know which species this was?

I like it when octopus are given toys to play with, but they get bored with them very quickly so regularly need novel ones to keep them entertained.

I went back a few days after this photo was taken and got a photo of the octopus out and about. Will upload in a few days.

oh nice. I have never seen one but I would imagine that this species (day octopus) makes a much better display animal than other octopuses.

Nope - the day I took this photo i couldn't see the bugger at all. I thought he must have gone into one of the egg shells and closed it on himself for privacy. When I finally saw how big he was I was really surprised I couldn't see him the first day.

I only saw him on the second day because they were cleaning his tank and moving the rocks around for him.
