I also have a problem with white tigers. I think you will find Zebraduiker is agreeing with this.
The white tigers definatley bring in the payingpublic. Its just that they are not really meant to be around in such numbers! It's not like they would ever be required for reintroduction purposes!
The problem with the white tigers goes very deep....All white tigers are related to each other,they came all from just one male animal, caught in 1951, so the entire population is totally inbred.
Just one or two cubs survive in a litter, most cunbs die after the birth or have to be kileld, becuas ethey are deforemd, I've seen pictures of such deformed white tiger cubs, they look absolutly horrible. Only the cubs which are looking almost normal, so they can be shown to the public, will be raised....
Every Zoo, whos "breeding" white tigers comes along improbably in realtion on conservation of endangerd species.The breeding of white tigers means animal cruelty and serves only to increase the vistors figures.White Tigers deal nothing more with normal animals,it conserves ill,pitiyful an inbred cripples. The word sounds hard, i know that, but it corresponds to the sad truth which sould be published to a big public,once finally solltee,with photos of the deformed youngsters. As long as people exert themselves like Siegfried and Roy for the conservation an reintroduction of the threatend white tigers to the wild will not probably happen.
So much to the Story of White Tigers, this is my personal opinion.
I have to add that local ice hockey club is named White Tigers Liberec (in czech of course) in regard Liberec Zoo keeps them (and yes they are trying to breed them).
