Sign just says they are "improving the zoo", but no mention of what animal this will be for. Based on the beer barrel houses, I would guess something like monkeys or coatis.
There were A LOT of macaws at this zoo on my visit Christmas Day. This exhibit, as SnowLeopard stated, has several pairs of different species. The infamous log on the pond posted above is still there - there are two in two adjacent ponds - one was empty and one had a pair on it. Also the pair up high at the main entrance, plus some on an island between aquarium buildings. And several in large cages, including at least one newly constructed one. This is definitely a macaw breeding center.
