Having recently opened their 4th aquarium building I thought that this zoo would rest on its laurels for a little while. Now I see that two more expansions are planned, but in reality I personally wish that the facility would improve existing enclosures rather than continue to build more subpar ones. The species list is phenomenal and amongst the most diverse in all of North America, but many of the exhibits are outdated cages.
I agree. In fact, there were several new exhibits on my last visit and all of them were just timber frames with chainlink. All except the new Dragon World building, which I ran out of time and did not get to see.
(I am going back in a week with a few fellow docents and will make a point of seeing it then).
