This looks as if it would be something that is off-show and I'm a bit surprised that such basic accommodation is able to be viewed by the public. Also, isn't the sea lion exhibit only about a year old?
Basic is certainly an apt description. The exhibit is new - this part opened first, perhaps a year and a half ago? For almost a year this was all they had. Then the outdoor pool and stadium (pirate ship theme) opened early this year (if I remember correctly, which I may or may not).
