Shocking to see so much grass after nearly two decades of elephants. The rain in Seattle must help to have all these green lush exhibits.
I am definitely a fan of this exhibit as it shows an exhibit does not have to be the biggest to be top quality.

The elephant exhibit in Seattle is quite extraordinary, as it is 1.5 acres in size but appears to be much larger as it is very long and winds through dense forest that surrounds the visitors. An award-winning habitat in 1989, and 20 years later it is very nice for the 3 elephants that call it home. The big problem that the zoo faces is that 1.5 acres is rapidly becoming a smaller than average pachyderm enclosure, and the 3 elephants don't form a cohesive herd. An old African, and the two Asians don't always get along with each other. Bamboo is an elephant that was sent away to the Point Defiance Zoo due to her behaviour a few years ago, but that also didn't work out and so she was returned to the Woodland Park Zoo.
