Since there is all this talk of giraffe exhibits, this is what a giraffe enclosure should look like. Huge, vast, open, and grassy along with plenty of trees for shade.
Then again Woodland Park Zoo has some of the best exhibits for all its animals except really the tigers, clouded leopards, and sloth bears. Everything else seems to be brilliant!
The zoo is twice as green (literally!) as it was 40 years ago, and there has been a push for immersive, naturalistic exhibits. The constant Seattle rain helps keep everything looking lush and wet!
@Blackduiker: I agree with your ranking, and I place it at #5 in my own personal list. In North America I've only seen the San Diego Zoo, Bronx Zoo, Omaha and Columbus that are better, but I'm still lacking a visit to the famous St. Louis Zoo. Woodland Park Zoo has countless spacious, naturalistic exhibits that invoke images of an animal's true environment...and the only major downside to the zoo is that it rains so often in Seattle that many visits for me are cold and drizzly.;
