The enclosure is huge for its inhabitants, and there are a number of side-necked turtles in the exhibit. I don't remember the species, as there are also a number of tanks with turtles alongside the opposite wall.
Of the 220 AZA-accredited zoos in North America, the Woodland Park Zoo is # 2 in exhibit awards (after the Bronx) and so the zoo is obviously packed with world class habitats. However, this reptile building/nocturnal house is over 30 years old and does indeed show its age. Having said that, the nocturnal side is excellent and many of the reptile tanks are above average. There is not a large collection of reptiles, but what there is can be found in standard tanks that are similar to countless other zoos.
Definately. The reptile exhibits are certainly a similar size to most zoos (many people argue that reptiles do not require large exhibits - but as a reptile keeper I disagree). I have looked at the other photos in the gallery and they look excellent
I am hoping to come across to America to visit some of the zoos there, and this is definately on my list
