Its hard to believe this exhibit is just a quarter acre as in every picture it looks enormous. It still looks to be the best grizzly bear exhibit in America, and it always seems that in all your photos the bears are quite active, an indication of a useful, great exhibit.
This award-winning habitat definitely makes use of the incline that it is built upon, as the treeline in the distance makes it seem as if there are no boundaries and the 900-pound grizzlies are free to wander away if they chose to. One of the best things about it is the neighbouring rocky mountain goat/river otter exhibits, as it is possible to see all 3 species at the same time from inside the viewing shelter. Now the Northern Trail area of the zoo is 15 years old, but it is still arguably the best of its kind in North America. The Minnesota Zoo's Russia's Grizzly Coast is also superb, and gives this set of habitats a good run for its money.
