The penguin exhibit is perhaps the largest I've ever seen, and there are many different areas where the water varies considerably in depth. This photo shows what is the deepest point, and I'd estimate it to be at least 8 feet deep, but there are other parts of the winding habitat that are fairly shallow and still allow for up-close viewing of the birds.
