The dusty dirt track that is the visitor's pathway around the African Savanna has several lookout points such as the one in this photo. Even though this section of the zoo is 30 years old there are well-hidden barriers that make it seem as if the animals have free range of the zoo. On many trips to this zoo I've seen visitors looking around for fences (particularly by the lion exhibit) as I suppose that in some cases having a visible barrier is a reassuring image.
