Walk-Through Waterfowl Aviary

May 23rd, 2010.
The only thing that bothers me here is the low hanging mesh. If this area is for waterfowl to have the ability to take flight, than wouldn't a little more vertical space make sense? I guess it's a little higher than the photo makes it appear. Better than a lake full of permanently clipped birds though.

As I recall, the mesh slopes and we are looking at the low point.
It is not a high aviary, but there's no reason for it to be.
Personally, I find this to be one of the most satisfying walk through aviaries I know. You can forget you are in an enclosure entirely

This photo does show the lowest point of the aviary, which is much higher than it appears to be. It is quite large and is definitely a pleasant experience, although there are not as many birds as there used to be.

Judging from what I've seen in the gallery (if that is anything to go by) I think this zoo has some of the best looking enclosures of any zoo in the USA, it is really quite impressive.
