Walk-Through Waterfowl Aviary

These were among the first exhibits I encountered at WPZ. The aviaries there are an underrated and overlooked strong point at an already terrific zoo.

Its also one of the first exhibits built from the well-known 1976 long-range plan.

I must say I found this zoo very impressive on my visit there back in 1996, and I'm sure much more so now.

@Blackduiker: since your visit in 1996 there have been loads of new exhibits: Jaguar Cove, Humboldt penguins, komodo dragons, African wild dogs, flamingos, Bugworld, African Village, Zoomazium, etc. Come back anytime!

What species are housed in this aviary?

I'm sorry but I cannot remember the species here, but I do know that there are a few duck species.

This information is extrapolated from some information pulled off of the Woodland Park Zoo's website and mixed with a little bit of personal memory, so I make no claims as to its current accuracy, but the species list is something like this:

Green heron
Black-crowned night heron
North American wood duck
Pintail
Bufflehead duck
Smew
Hooded merganser
