Even though it is a bit on the small side, just imagine how this exhibit would look if it was meshed over, had a layer of soft substrate for digging and much more climbing and enrichment equipment. Relatively simple renovations that would vastly improve it.
I see that there is a small sand box for the bears to dig in, but this giant terrarium is still a brutally stark exhibit for any species. This enclosure resembles the "monkey tanks" at the same zoo, and this example of showcasing exotic animals simply makes me scratch my head. The sun bear enclosure encased with metal bars at the RSCC in England actually seems impressive in comparison!
