It would be cool to see a Canadian lynx in snow (even with a random tire in the background!) but it is also a great pity at the large number of metal cages at this zoo as that style of exhibitry obscures viewing for guests. The bird of prey aviaries are small and fairly barren; and animals such as wolves, coyotes, black bears, cougars, bobcats, lynx, river otters, porcupines, skunks, woodchucks, fishers, red foxes and grey foxes are ALL showcased behind black metal fencing. There aren't any clear images of animals available for guests except for a few large paddocks with hoofstock. However, it is tough to be overly critical of a tiny, free zoo that offers a home for non-releasable inhabitants native to the state of Minnesota.

Yes, I had been to this zoo once before during the summer and during the winter most of the animals were more active. I've never really had a problem with chainlink fencing for viewing personally but it makes it extra annoying when trying to take a decent picture. Like you said its hard to criticize a small, free zoo that is a home for non-releasable animals. The deal with the hoofstock exhibits is that they have raised dirt mounds that function as viewing platforms that gets you over the fence. Those are the most difficult to access during the winter though its kind of separated across a road from the rest of the zoo and does not have board walk like the rest so I had to trample through the snow. The only other thing I would mention about this zoo, when it comes to animal exhibitry, is the black bear exhibit I think is to small, they only have one, but it isn't very big. The rest seemed to be ok or at least comparable to other zoos minus that exhibit.
