It's amazing how many gorillas are at Zoo Atlanta. When I was there in August there were 22 gorillas in 4 exhibits. Throw in 11 orangutans in 2 exhibits and that's a lot of apes!
Dr. Terry Maple is probably the authority on ape behavior...which is why he was chosen to be their zoo director. If he hadnt become director, I doubt Atlanta would have such collections. Now that he is in Palm Beach, I am just waiting for the announcement that they will be getting apes...
