They spent many thousands of dollars to add this "enrichment log" to the exhibit--I believe it has built-in automated feeders etc. Too bad they didn't bother to hire someone capable of making it look like a log!
What does work well with the Zoo Atlanta gorilla habitats is that the rear section of the enclosures are expertly moated, thus creating the effect that the lush forest in the background is actually part of the ape exhibit.
Thats dumb that the gorillas don't have access to the lush forest. From what I am hearing I really am not impressed with this exhibits. The only good thing about it is that the gorillas have lots of family members to interact with.
