There was one keeper to the left of this photo, and a second one can be seen at the far end of the exhibit. The elephant paddock is much larger than what can be viewed in this photo, but the keepers were enticing the pachyderm with food back and forth for 1-2 hours per day in order to combat foot problems and encourage the elephants to get more exercise. The habitat is not as large as it probably should be, but with Atlanta's mild climate at least the elephants can spend many hours outside in the sunshine.
