Amazingly ugly. I fully expected Amazon and Beyond would be a top contender for the AZA exhibit award. Bronx and Minnesota and several others have nothing to worry about from what I've seen in these photos.
Maybe in 10 years after the plantings have grown in....maybe....

I agree, Minnesota and Bronx have way better exhibits. But we have to remember that they don't actually look at the exhibit, so if Miami writes a good report than they have a chance of winning.
Minnesota Zoo's "Russia's Grizzly Coast" is the #1 new exhibit in my mind.
I agree with reduakari with his comments on the bat exhibit (although the overhead tunnels are an excellent idea) and the walk-through primate enclosure. Amazon and Beyond has a terrific visitor plaza with lots of human amenities, plenty of wide pathways and huge, arching signs...but the animal areas are at times quite weak and not as impressive as Jacksonville Zoo's Range of the Jaguar area. However, the giant river otter habitat, giant anteater exhibit, large Amazon building with the pacu aquarium and mixed species enclosure are all impressive, as are several of the smaller reptile/amphibian tanks. It will hopefully become much more impressive as the surrounding vegetation gradually takes over the landscape.
