Having watched many pictures from Miami by now, it seems as if the zoo uses steep moats a lot? I am never quite fond of that. Gently sloping moats leading down to sufficently high wall always seems the better choice to me. Steep moats mean danger if, for instance, two individuals start to fight.

All the enclosures are so large though, that is not really a problem. The African Elephant and Black Rhino habitats are gradual sloping moats

The apes have nets attached to their yard's edge to catch any mistaken step..
