Which species is the side-necked turtle?

I do not remember the species, it may not have been identified specifically if I did not note it in this post.

conveniently enough, Maguari has just posted as a pdf his list of animals seen in Florida which includes Zoo Miami (currently on the last post [#120] here: http://www.zoochat.com/22/maguari-florida-georgia-338272/index8.html). For Zoo Miami he has Phrynops hilarii and Platemys platycephala.

Wow! thats an impressive list! but I doubt it may be any of those species... due to the aprox. size that I can see in the picture above I would say they might be Arrau turtles (Podocnemis expansa) which is also on Maguari´s list of Miami Zoo

Thanks! Took some putting together but is a nice way to have records for the trip and easier to check quickly than a notebook.

The format is one used by robmv before me, so for that the credit is with him!

Yep, definitely Arrau in here.

The P. hilarii were in the walk-through tanager aviary (in which I saw almost nothing else on either of my visits, sadly) and the P. platycephala was in a terrarium opposite the Orinoco Crocodiles.

Well... that´s a shame... but you know you will always be welcome here in Colombia to see them in the wild
