Although I have lived in Texas since Summer 2014, I have yet to actually get a good look at this species. Gladys Porter Zoo, The Texas Zoo, Houston Zoo, and others don't even have it. In Fort Worth, I got a look at one's back, buried under the sand. In Dallas they were on exhibit but not signed so I missed them the last time I was there. Oh well...

They really do blend in pretty well with the surroundings.

I guess I'll just have to live with the Mexican Giant Horned Lizards I saw in California. All your shots are pretty nice, I've noticed, after looking through Zoo Miami gallery.

After talking to gulo gulo in the chatroom we have figuered out that this is actually Giant horned lizard instead of Texas. Apologies for confusion.

No problem. Still quite a cool species.
