The idea is that they wanna show animals which are extinct already. And this is their cementery - showing how many animals we lost recently. Every stone has a sign with one species with information about it and when and why the species has become extinct. They call it "a cementery of animals". I hope it helped.
I didn't see anyone climbing on them or anything like that when I was there (though to be honest, the zoo was very empty being mid-week and not the best weather).
Actually nothing like you said, either playground, either cementery. It is just exhibition showing how ppl threat animals. I've never seen children play on it but I saw this cementery three times (Ostrava is far away from Prague). They just designed it like that because it says better that we lost those animals.
They opened this exhibiton on Halloween (I visited the zoo that day) and people could light candles around stones. So it looked like real cementery that day. Other days, it looks like you saw it.
Many zoos have set up displays (some temporary, some permanent) of cemetery-like memorials to extinct species. I am always a bit curious whether they have ANY impact on visitors at all.
