to be clear on my views, the pelts didn't bother me at all. They are just cats and dogs. I found it interesting from a Western point of view, simply because it is something you would never ever see in NZ or Australia or the UK. I was quite interested though in thinking about who would buy a dog skin rug for their floor and why. That just seems a bit odd.
The only real issue for me is one nanoboy pointed out in the relevant thread, about how the animals were treated when alive (on the farms) and how they may have been killed (about which I have read in the past, and it is not pretty).

it's just strange for an outsider to have a moggy skin in your house and also china has a reputation for eating pretty much anything (old chinese proverb saying that anything with four legs can be eaten apart from a table)
so quite stereotypically chinese
