Black-necked cranes (Grus nigricollis)

at Ruoergai, Sichuan.

Photo taken through a bus window, so not the best. I saw lots of these birds at Ruoergai but mostly at a distance.

Taken care for the first breeding-pair at Walsrode at the end of the 1980-ties. The Crane Foundation in the USA had the world-first-breeding followed several hours later by a succesfull hatching at Walsrode ! Now-a-days they are already kept and bred more regulary at several public collections and even in privat collections a number of birds is kept and bred.
