Very rare animal ! In European zoos as far as I know only kept at the end of the 19th centuary at London Zoo. Does any-one has more information about American and Asian zoos ?

I saw them in Beijing and Shanghai only, but believe there are more Chinese zoos which keep them.

In fact many big Chinese zoos hold this species, such as Chengdu, Kunming, Nanning and Xiangjiang Zoo.

The Gibbon Conservation Center in California has a few and seems to have bred them at least once in recent years. According to the AZA's Ape TAG, hoolock gibbons are a species that they want to increase the captive population of in U.S. zoos.
