Or where they always just Cape giraffe (giraffa)?

Five South African giraffes (including this calf), and one Masai-reticulated hybrid.

The picture is the Nubian & reticulated hybrid calf in 1978.

According to a book published in 1993, Beijing Zoo had kept Nubian giraffe (G. c. camelopardalis), Masai giraffe (G. c. tippelskirchi) and reticulated giraffe (G. c. reticulata) since 1956.
