It is the only langur species on exhibit among the zoo's eight Aisan leaf-eating monkey species. It is a pity that other eight species are off-exhibit now.

Which other 7 / 8 (?) species are kept and do you know numbers of specimens kept of every species ?

The other seven species are: golden snub-nosed monkey, black-shanked douc, tufted grey langur, white-headed langur, silver langur, ebony langur, purple-faced langur. I don't know the numbers. In fact, the zoo director seems to have a great interest in primates and keep on collecting as many primate species as possible. When the zoo open a dozen of years ago, they used to exhibit all the rare primate species, however, the tourists always complained that they saw nothing interesting but monkeys, monkeys and monkeys again...... Therefore the zoo had to move most primates back to the off-exhibit breeding center, and give the exhibit space to other taxa. I think it is a great pity, as the primate species are the zoo's most precious collect.

Thank you very much for this information baboon ! Realy a pitty all those intresting species are not on display but maybe for breeding it is even something positive not being on display.
