Smooth-coated Otters (Lutrogale perspicillata)

family group at Kaziranga National Park, Assam, 2014
Aren't they short clawed?- this is the species normally found in big family groups.
nope, these ones were smooth-coated - just a family group of them. I did see two otters at Kaziranga which at the time I thought might be small-clawed based on their size but the guide said that only smooth-coated are found at the park (which later of course I found out was quite wrong!). They weren't close enough for me to be sure either way though, so "officially" I have only seen smooth-coated otters in the wild.
