white tiger enclosures

I did the obligatory visit here too when I was in Assam. I can remember very little about the Zoo now but this photo somehow looks familiar- I think there were Asian Lions in a similar (or even this?) enclosure nearby. I also remember a barren pit style enclosure for a pair of Sloth Bears in this area too.

The main thing I remember was the Rhinos- about nine of them, mostly standing in a sea of mud in small concrete yards. So sad after seeing them wild in Kaziranga. I think I must have seen Golden Langur here too but have a better memory of the large numbers of wild Rhesus in the grounds. Most of your other photos don't revive any memories though.

I noticed on the map that you posted that there was a tower labeled 'water tower' (maybe it was watch tower but I couldn't increase the size of the photo much more without it going too blurry). Was this photo taken from said water tower?

the lions may have been in these, but I have a feeling it was instead the cage which now holds nilgai (a very odd enclosure for nilgai it is too!). I haven't uploaded all the photos yet because I had to leave Bangkok for more remote areas -- I have internet but I think it is probably a little too slow for uploading photos.

I know the rhino pens you mean. I didn't take any photos of them because they were all empty. On display was one Indian rhino with a herd of axis deer in a large paddock. All their other Indian rhinos are in off-display breeding areas (so I don't know how big they are).

no, this was taken from one end of the raised walkway which runs over the tiger enclosures. On the other side is a very large walled enclosure for orange tigers, much better than these dinky white tiger enclosures.

The tower is at the edge of the Botanic Gardens but I couldn't find how to actually get there because the gates which seemed to lead in that direction were locked.
