westren tragopan ( Tragopan melanocephalus)

westron tragopan in Kufri Zoo india
They can be very well bred outside their country of orgin as history proves :
1881 bred at Berlin Zoo ( 3 hatched, 1 raised succesfully ), 1882 and 1883 bred also but no numbers known to me
privat persons ( Cronau, Delaurier and Cornely ) all succesfull during 1880-ties and 1890-ties. Delaurier bred 6 to 8 young every year !
1971 the British Pheasant trust recieved 1 female which raised a hybrid-chick from a Temminck Tragopan.
Somewhere in the 1970-ties / 1980-ties Antwerp Zoo recieved a male. When it died, this was the last of it's kind in Europe.

It'd definitely be nice to see them in Europe, especially if there's a good chance they'll breed well.

In case you're interested, here's a link to India's National studbook for these birds:

Kufri Zoo's male birds, Anu and Raju, arrived in 2008 when they were ten months old.
