Zoorasia received one female in 2012 and another in 2013, both from Singapore Zoo. A baby was born in December 2013 and is now being hand-reared because her mother became ill shortly after her birth.

I somewhere read this, probably in the Nagoya zoo threads, … it is great you have finally after so many years had a douc langur birth! The males are unrelated to the current captive stocks.
I am sure before long you will have a mother reared douc too! It is a question of time / timing!
AKA similar with the Zoorasia proboscis group. Also had a first in 2012 or so ...
The infant being hand-reared now is in fact the third red-shanked douc born at Zoorasia. Very unfortunately, the first baby was killed by a parent (her father, I think) and the second baby also died (I do not know what the cause of its death was). But anyway, three births in less than two years must surely be a positive result of the zoo's efforts.
