Black Crested Gibbon?

The sign on the fence surrounding the gibbon island says White Cheeked Gibbon whereas I think this is a male Black Crested Gibbon. Can anyone please advise.

There was also a couple of cages on the island with a gibbon or gibbons in them but I couldn't see what they were.

It's certainly not Nomascus leucogenys, unless it is a hybrid animal, as the cheeks of this species are always white. It could be a Black Crested (Nomascus concolor) as you suggest, but Yellow-cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae) is also possible - the former usually has white cheeks but can have buffy cheeks, whilst the latter almost invariably has buffy cheeks.

Yellow-cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae)!!!

Since it's a Laotian zoo I'll guess it's a Northern Yellow-cheeked (Nomanscus annamensis). A species recently separated from N. gabriella.
