Just great to see a Bornean Sumatran D. s. harrisoni! Only downside the paddock seems a little unvegetated ... for a tropical rainforest species.
Sabah is their main stronghold and thanks to SOS Rhino the Malaysian authorities have woken up to the urgency of conserving this critically endangered species. Now the plan is to assemble all Bornean Sumatrans from outlying areas and transfer them to the secure rhino sanctuary in Eastern Sabah.
For 2010 I have planned to go back to Kalimantan and visit the Danum Valley et al and immerse myself in the rainforest and then go on to Indonesian Eastern Kalimantan to one of the main orang reserves.
