Western tarsier-July 2008
Graet picture, of course, I'm a Tarsierfan. Which species is that, and which zoo is that ?
Do they keep the tariers in a daylight exhibit, do they breed them and how many tarsiers have you seen ?

what's that -- first day and you've already seen a tarsier! Lucky you. Now you just need to find one in the wild.

absolutely spewing - i spent 2 weeks in the jungles of borneo looking for tarsier and when i visited this zoo they didn't have any!

unfortunately, despite being run by the national parks and wildlife service - this zoo was largely stocked by capturing animals from the wild (as was the case with the proboscis monkeys) rather than acquiring animals slowly via other malaysian zoos and gaining husbandry experience before attempting to raise rare local species. this is especially important since 90% of staff are pissed off park rangers who haven't the first idea or desire to look after animals in cages.

thus i'm not holding high hopes for their tarsier breeding program and this poor guy was probably better off left in the wild.
