Bornean clouded leopard (Neofelis diardi)

He's right. The only cats I've seen in the wild are a Bobcat and feral Domestic Cats.

Now I'm envious of you ;) Bobcat are few and far between in captivity in Europe, and the UK is very impoverished of wild cats!

I pity you. Fancy seeing a wild Flat-headed Cat...:)

Statement B does not compute with Statement A. :p
don't get me wrong, flat-headed cat was actually the first cat I saw in the wild (apart for feral cat) and I was very very happy. I was really thinking more along the lines of that there are loads of wild cat species in southeast Asia, and I have only seen two even though I've spent quite a bit of time there.

Do any zoos outside of Southeast Asia hold this species.
no there are none outside Asia. They probably aren't infrequent in zoos in Sumatra and Java though. I saw quite a few stuffed ones at Bukittingi Zoo which I suspect were former inhabitants of the zoo. Singapore Zoo used to have one quite some time ago, but it was sent to another zoo in Sumatra (?).

I've only seen one wild cat in the country I live in!! Luckily, zoos have allowed me to expand my list of cat species I've seen (I don't actually keep a list)

Too bad.:( I wish they found Bornean Clouded Leopards hiding among the Clouded Leopard populations here in the U.S. like they did with Malayan Tigers.

Anyone know the subspecies most commonly found here in the U.S. (more specificly the Smithsonian National Zoo)?

I work at a photo lab in Tucson and you would not believe how many customers come in with photos of bobcats in their backyards. They are really common here - I rode my bike right next to one a couple years ago on a major bike path across from the Tucson Mall.

Ironically, the only other cat I have seen in the wild is the most endangered - iberian lynx. (Very close range too - I was soooo lucky on that one).

However, flat headed cat and sunda clouded leopard would be a dream for me - even in captivity. (I have photographed 29 species of felines with a life goal of photographing them all).

it could well happen. I imagine many clouded leopards exported from Asia came from Borneo and Sumatra.

*Wow I can't believe you've seen that many!! Does that include subspecies? Can you name them all?:D
There should be a Feline Gallery where people can post all their feline photos. There'd be like a million lion and tiger photos, though.

*Here's all the felines I've seen (subspecies, too)-
Bobcat (Lynx rufus rufus)
Canada Lynx (Lynx canadensis canadensis)
Brazilian Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis mitis)
Texas Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis albescens)
Leopard (melanistic) (Panthera pardus genertic:D)
Snow Leopard (Uncia uncia)
Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosa _____)
Fishing Cat (Prionailurus viverrinus)
Domestic Cat (Felis silvestris catus)
Caracal (Caracal caracal _____)
South African Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus)
Transvaal Lion (Panthera leo krugeri)
Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae)
Malayan Tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni)
Amur Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)

So there's my list of the 14 feline species/subspecies that I've seen. Until quite recently I thought I'd seen Barbary Lions (Panthera leo leo) at the Smithsonian National Zoo but have since been told otherwise.:(

@ThylacineAlive - If you go to France it is actually not that hard. You can get 26 species (and I mean full species, not counting subspecies) just by spending one day at Parc Felins.

Surprisingly, one they do not have that is available in captivity is black footed cat, which of course I have from US zoos. (My best shot was this summer at Fresno Chaffee Zoo).
