yes it is a lot better than many I have seen. It could be better obviously -- all zoo enclosures could -- but certainly it isn't a chimp enclosure that would make me "vow to never return to that zoo"! The trees had no sign of hot-wiring and it really appeared as if the chimps could climb them if they so wished. Same for the orangutan enclosure (where there actually were orangs up in the trees). I don't know how many chimps total, I think I saw four or five.
I imagine its much better than many other chimpanzee exhibits in Asian zoos. It looks better than some I have seen in European zoos!
Tree access is brilliant, and obviously rare in zoos, I'm glad they get it here. It would offer many opportunities for the chimps to "interact" with native wildlife too.
Good to know. Apparently there have been elements added since I last visited.
At that time there was virtually nothing but hilly lawn in the chimps enclosure.
