According to the zoo's website, the elephants "have long been retired from the elephant show." Do you have more information about when this occurred?

I'm afraid not - it's been three years since my single visit and I haven't been following the zoo's matters on any serious basis. While I didn't see a show with my own eyes, I saw photos just before the visit that seemed fairly recent, and as you can see, the 'equipment' is still there.

Maybe someone who has been there since can update us.

Exhibit no longer houses elephants.

Hey guys, I visited the zoo on the 10th of April this year so I can update you. Even though the grand stand and elephant pictures are still there, this enclosure no longer houses elephants. Instead there are now Malayan Tapirs living there.

A new very large enclosure has been built for the zoo's 3 elephants. It's a very large grassy paddock and with huge new barn and a large swimming pool. Lots of room to roam and graze for the elephants.

They are also no longer performing shows, or having to beg for food. I was extremely happy when I saw the new elephant enclosure. It is beautiful and the elephants look very happy.
