I visited Zoo Negara on the 10th of April 2015. This enclosure currently houses Tapirs. A new very large enclosure has been built for the zoo's 3 elephants. It's a very large grassy paddock and with huge new barn and a large swimming pool. Lots of room to roam and graze for the elephants.
They are also no longer performing shows, or having to beg for food. I was extremely happy when I saw the new elephant enclosure. It is beautiful and the elephants look very happy.

The rest of the zoo sounds like there's been a major series of improvements. Had you visited before? What was your impression of the giant panda complex?

No this was my first time at the zoo but I had done lots of research on here and looked at photos. I was horrified by some of the photos but then when I got there I was amazed. Lots of clearly new enclosures. The brand new "Mammal Kingdom" was great. And as I said the new elephant enclosure - outstanding. And yes I really liked the Giant Panda complex, it was gorgeous.
But what put a huge smile on my face were the new bear enclosures, after seeing the photos on here, I was a bit scared at first. But it was great. The weather was great too. Just had an awesome day.
I am really pleased the zoo is still improving! It was good last time I was there but still had some improvements needed in the works. It will easily be one of the best zoos in Asia when it is done.

Yes I am planning to write a review of my visit in the next few days or so. Tomorrow I am off to a Dutch Zoo (Amersfoort), so maybe tomorrow evening if I get the time.
