wow they certainly have lots of seldom seen species in this zoo. I was reading recently that the spotted linsang is extremely rare with numbers possibly down to a couple of dozen.

You might be right! I'm not so sure now. According to the signage, it's supposed to be the 'Spotted' but we know we shouldn't always trust zoo signage…
@Chlidonias, yes, i see they are listed as least concern. i suppose what i read referred to a patch of forest or island, but it shows the value of cross referencing any stuff we read.
also i've just noticed that this zoo is philippine and i assumed it was french, judging by the name lol.

Avilon Zoo is one of the better zoos in the Philippines. They also own the Avilon Ark, another small zoo, where the focus lies more on entertainment rather than conservation. I believe that most of the animals they have originate in the wild. They do try to breed them and I also noticed that they do work with some European zoos (I believe some German zoos). Also, many animals are rescued and being rehabilitated there (for example the Frigatebirds). Another such interesting collection is the Philippine Eagle Center on Mindanao. I'll post pictures of them all in due time.
