Silver-beaked Tanager

Not quite sure about this one, actually it's to red to be a Silver-beaked, I would say Brazilian Tanager.

VC, this is one of the birds that JBP actually had an ID sign for! Doesn't mean they're correct though?

The bird on the picture don't look like the Silver-beaked Tanagers ( Ramphocelus carbo ) I've taken care for at both Walsrode and my privat collection and unless there is an unknown subspecies to me which is so red like the bird on the picture, I still say it's a Brazilian Tanager.

Looking at the amount of white on the lower mandible and the overall dark colouration I'd say it's silver-beaked. I think the reddish appearance is probably due to strong natural light.

Thanks Hevden.

I do have other pics taken the same day where the bird is perched in a tree and it looks much darker. Don't know if same bird but think so.

Definitely a silver-beaked tanager. Keep in mind that there are several races of this species that vary substantially in hue, ranging from almost black to fairly bright red (though none match the pure red of Brazilian)
