Together with a much more high profile species, the Vietnamese Pheasant (Lophura hatinhensis), that my mediocre photography skills failed to catch....
 
They are difficult to photo as the never seem to stay still for more than a couple of seconds. Still you got a decent enough image.

Current thinking is that Vietnamese Pheasant is an inbred local variety of Edwards'

that seems to be as good as proven doesn't it? And yet it persists. Maybe it's like the Barbary lion scenario in zoos.
 
how long have the pheasants been at Jurong and where did they come from? Last time I was there they were rather lacking in galliformes of any kind really (which I think was due to the Bird Flu scare and some species being killed or otherwise disposed of, if I recall correctly).
