This reproduced photo was published in a local Chinese paper today. The main rectangle is the climate-controlled, 1,430-square-metre indoor habitat, with 2 separate enclosures for the pandas, and enclosures for lesser panda and golden pheasant (top left of the rectangle). The smaller rectangle below is an outdoor enclosure for the pandas (linked to the indoor habitat). Visitors view the pandas via a raised boardwalk which winds through the indoor and outdoor enclosures.

Translation of the Chinese text (clockwise, from top left):

- Keepers' work area: Used for food preparation and other tasks.

- Panda dens: Separate dens for the male / female pair. 160 square metres in size.

- Indoor climate-controlled habitat: Temperature to be maintained between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. Covers 1,430 square metres.

- Glass roof: Allows natural light into the habitat.

- Bamboo landscaping: Barriers protect the plants from the pandas.

- Boardwalk: Railings prevent visitors from entering the panda enclosure.

- Divider: Separates the enclosures of the male and female.

- Viewing gallery: Allows visitors to view the pandas' outdoor enclosures.

- Outdoor enclosure: Allows the pandas access to the outdoors.

- Wooden Climbing Frame: For the pandas to climb and play on.

thanks for that Zooish - it makes it all a lot clearer! I was wondering what the sort of triangular bit was between the indoor and outdoor enclosures (i.e. the visitor viewing area). It certainly looks like it will be a pretty great enclosure overall.
