Red Panda exhibit.
Hi Zooish,

Any idea which subspecies of Red Panda is this? Western or Styan? Seems like is the Western from its paler forehead and lighter coat? I always have trouble trying to distinguish some of the two subspecies. I only know the western has a paler facial markings and lighter coat, and the styan have a more striking facial markings, darker coat and bigger in size.

Crikey, I had not seen the photo of River Safari's red panda exhibit. That looks like a terrific exhibit.

@Dennis: It should be Western (based on the fact they came from Johannesburg Zoo and that zoo lists its red pandas as A.f.fulgens)

@DAVID: The exhibit is aesthetic but too small.

This is kind of an odd question, but does it stink in there? I know most indoor facilities housing mammals tend to not smell the best.

Not at all! On the contrary the air smells crisp and fresh inside, perhaps because of all the plants.

Red panda is part of it only. The entire Giant Panda Forest includes Giant Panda, Red Panda and Golden Pheasants. In addition, WRS have already added some species to the zone. The whole exhibit worth S$8.6million, considered the largest one in S.E.A.
