Rivers of the World - Murray River

Another very small zone, it was not ready when I visited. It will eventually house Murray Cod, Saratoga, Rainbowfish, Australian Lungfish and Yabbies.

Calling this the Murray River zone is a bit of a stretch. It's basically a mix of Australian fish.

Do you know if they'll all be exhibited together? Murray Cod aren't the friendliest fish and can't even really be kept together without fighting.

it looks like the two or three "rectangles" in the wall are covering where small tanks will be (for the rainbows etc). Although interestingly the sign in front of the main aquarium there has pictures for Murray cod, (what looks like) Boesman's rainbow, Australian lungfish and what could be a Scleropages. A very odd mix indeed!

The Murray zone never quite worked out and will be scrapped completely. This area will re-open in June after renovation as an extension of the Ganges zone.

Will the species be displayed elsewhere - maybe in the Australian exhibit in the Zoo?

@zooboy28: Haven't heard of any such plans yet sadly. I hope at least the lungfish get displayed elsewhere.

What is new at River Safari these days other than closing down the Murray River and beaver exhibits?

Have they opened up the boat ride with the view of the giraffes and elephants?
Have they made any tweaks to the Amazon boat ride?

@DavidBrown: The boat ride with views of rhinos, giraffes and elephants is open, it's called the River Safari Cruise. The Amazon boat ride is still the same and won't likely be re-worked any time soon.
