Were these in the pelican pond exhibit or the marsh bird enclosure (both on the Fishing Cat Trail, and very close to each other) or somewhere else entirely?

I was sure that they were in with Marsh Birds but based on the sequence of my images it would appear that they were with the Pelicans.

Thanks for that, I saw my first wild magpie-geese a couple of weeks ago. They are actually an extremely distinctive and unique species, in their own family and basal to other waterfowl.

Have you been to Far North Queensland or was that while you were around southern Queensland?

Up in FNQ you see them by the thousand. Even the smallest swamps along the side of the highway had its own massive group.

No, it was actually in Victoria, just by Werribee Open Range Zoo. I'd definitely like to see a massive group in FNQ though, there were only three at Werribee.
